This post is the first of a new type where you can send me suggestions for inclusion in the gallery of 1) mobile phone masts pretending to be trees or 2) well-designed mobile phone masts not pretending to be anything. Use the form at the bottom to send me a link.
- Nice one! Many thanks to Quintin Lake Architectural Photography http://blog.quintinlake.com
- This is the same one, “in the wild” near Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England. Cheers Quintin. Well spotted.
- This one’s near Wombourne (wherever that is!), UK
- And they’re doing it in Portugal too, somehow pinetree-esque, I guess.
- This one’s all the more disturbing for almost being convincing – UK again!
- China’s not to be left behind. Here’s one in Changchun – capital of northeast China’s Jilin Province, apparently.
- It’s all starting to get a bit silly now. These are near Barmpton (no, me neither).
- More silliness. For a full range of fake mobile mast products, visit http://www.envirocom.co.za
- The UAE’s unrealistically-tall date palm model.
- I just can’t get enough of these.
- The UAE’s greener and fatter date palm tree model.
- Another variation on the date palm looky-likey, this time with added dates!
- The mobile phone mast is not trying to look beautiful.
- Another not-trying-to-be-beautiful example. As you can see, this one’s outside Bull Creek Train and Bus Station.
Nice collection! Someone should design these masts that actually celebrate their function rather than a lamp post with a shoe box on top or fake tree like today
Thanks Quintin – we couldn’t agree more! I was shocked to see what a global phenomena this is. While searching, I did see one mast disguised as a dead tree and which was wrong in so many ways I couldn’t actually think what to say about it.
